Mauritius Society of Authors (MASA), whose website is [http://masa.intnet.mu](http://masa.intnet.mu), is the statutory copyright collective‑management organization under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage of Mauritius. Established under the Copyright Act 1986, it underwent institutional adjustments with name and function revisions brought by the Copyright Act 2014 and its 2017 amendment, undertaking collective administration of copyright and neighbouring rights covering music, audiovisual, theatre, publishing, literature and other creative fields. It has more than 5,000 creator members and associate‑members. MASA safeguards legitimate interests of local creators both domestically and internationally, collects copyright royalties from work users and distributes remuneration to right‑holders, grants licensing authorizations and offers support on copyright contracts. As a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) and the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO), MASA has concluded reciprocal agreements with over 43 overseas collective‑management entities worldwide for cross‑border copyright clearance and protection. It fosters local artistic and literary creation and advances copyright governance cooperation across the African region.
